If you are planning to visit Australia for a holiday, to visit relatives, recreation or informal study, then you need to apply for the Australia Tourist Visa.

The Australia Tourist Visa means you can stay in Oz for up to 3 months on any single visit within a 12 month period. It is valid for 12 months from the date its granted or the life of the passport if the expiry is less than 12 months.

In addition to be eligible to apply you must hold a valid ETA passport, and intend to be travelling with this passport. Eligible ETA passports are:

A Hong Kong Document of Identity (HKDI) cannot be used to apply for an ETA. Residents of Hong Kong require a citizen passport to apply for this visa.

** Holders of Taiwan passports can only be processed for an ETA if residing and applying in Taiwan. Applications can be lodged with an approved ETA Travel Agent in Taiwan or Australian Visa Services office in Taipei.

An ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia, which in turn has replaced the traditional visa stamp in your passport. The Tourist Visa (ETA) is valid for 12 months from the date it is granted. You are permitted multiple stays of up to 3 months over the 12 month validity period.

	You must be in good health.
	You must have no criminal convictions.
	Applicants must be outside Australia to apply.
	You are NOT permitted to work on this visa.
	You can study in Australia on an Australia Tourist Visa (ETA) as long as the course you undertake does not exceed more than 3 months in length.
